Did you know you can set and adjust keyframes beyond the visible portions of a clip? I didn’t. 🙂 Pretty cool trick. Hope you find it useful!

Final Cut Pro X Babbling 
This is well known (to me) and is a BUG not a feature, since this has messed me up many a time.
Well, it’s a feature to me. 🙂 Not needing to extend clips to set keyframes outside the range is kind of nice.
